Currently many blockchains implementations are very specific and very tailored to a specific use case, which is part of a broader context (e.g. the traceability of a specific drug, which is part of the most general anti-counterfeiting required for all drugs). All of these system will at some point evolve into more consolidated versions, where data (transactions) from different blockchain instances will be mutually recognized and made interoperable, allowing for the creation of domain-wide DLTs that will be more resilient, robust and integrated. An interoperable blockchain requires a lot deal of effort in many different levels, including governance, technical data formats and specifications, semantics, operational maintenance.
